Texas Tech, Leach reach contract agreement
After months of negotiations, Texas Tech and Head Football Coac Mike Leach have finally come to terms on a contract extension. The deal is for a reported $12.7 million over five years, which will keep Leach in Lubbock through the 2013 season.

Florida county mulls cutting high school sports
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Orange County school district in Florida, "is considering doing away with all freshman sports, some junior-varsity teams and two varsity coaches to save at least $341,315."

Newberry College takes down North Carolina
The Newberry College wrestling team (22-2, No. 2 in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association Poll) defeated their third Division I opponent of the year with a 24-14 triumph over the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. The scarlet and gray won six of ten matches over the Tar Heels.
