Skipping college to play in Canada?
According to a report in the New York Times, Brian Butler, the controversial manager of the top-ranked football recruit, Bryce Brown, is open to the idea. Butler told The Times that if approached by a Canadian Football League team, he'd consider sending Brown there.
Recruits staying closer to home
Apparently the economic downturn is affecting what schools football recruits are choosing. A report in the Orlando Sentinel says some recruits are deciding to stay close to home because of the bad economy, and some parents are moving closer to their son's school rather than spend money traveling to and from games.
Fire and Ice
The St. Cloud State University hockey team plans to travel to Anchorage this weekend to square off against the Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage. The trip could be cut short, however, by the expected eruption of Mount Redoubt -- a volcano 100 miles outside of the capitol city.
Wake Forest, Xavier team up to honor former coach
Wake Forest University and Xavier University have agreed on a 10-year basketball series starting next season. The Skip Prosser Classic honors Skip Prosser, a former head coach for both teams. The series will begin next season.

Big Ten issues warning to schools
The Chicago Tribune is reporting the Big Ten officials sent a warning to all teams, cautioning them to not cross the line with overly physical play.
