The deadline to submit online nominations for the Theodore Roosevelt, Silver Anniversary, Inspiration and Valor Awards is August 7.

The NCAA Honors Committee also is seeking nominations for the Today’s Top VIII, which recognizes current student-athletes. Nominations for student-athletes who exhausted their eligibility after the 2008 winter and 2009 spring sports seasons may be submitted for consideration by August 7. Nominations will reopen in the fall to review student-athletes who will complete their eligibility during fall 2009.

The Teddy, the Association’s highest honor; the Silver; and Today’s Top VIII are awarded annually during the Honors Celebration at the NCAA Convention. Recipients of the Inspiration and Valor Awards, which are not automatically bestowed, also are recognized during the event.

The eligibility of Silver Anniversary award nominees will be based on when their athletics eligibility ended rather than on the graduation date. This year, nominations are sought for former student-athletes who exhausted their eligibility during the 1984-85 academic year.

Schools may nominate more than one person for the same award and may submit the names of multiple individuals for multiple honors. Conferences are asked to strongly encourage the member institutions to participate in the selection process.

Recipients will be announced this winter. All honorees are expected to attend the Honors Celebration (only Valor and Inspiration Awards may be presented posthumously), which will be in January during the 2010 NCAA Convention in Atlanta.
