Hodge tops volleyball Academic All-Americans

The College Sports Information Directors of America recently named Megan Hodge of Penn State and Maria Omondi of Columbia College (Missouri) academic all-Americans of the year in volleyball for the 2009 season.

Hodge is the second consecutive Nittany Lion to earn the academic all-American of the year honor for the university division. Last year, former teammate Christa Harmotto was selected for the honor. Hodge and Penn State have a 30-0 record and recently won their third consecutive Big Ten championship. Hodge leads the Nittany Lions with 436 kills, a 4.69 kill per set average and a .400 hitting percentage. In Hodge’s career, Penn State has a 134-5 record and has won 94 consecutive matches.

Omondi, a native of Nairobi, Kenya, led Columbia College to its 16th consecutive NAIA tournament berth.
