Gymnastics coaches name scholar teams

The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women has announced the teams with the top academic performances this past year.

Southeast Missouri State earned the national academic team championship with an  overall grade-point average of 3.91. Fourteen members of the team registered perfect GPAs. Southern Utah (3.68), Michigan State (3.65), Alabama (3.56) and Hamline (3.548) rounded out the top five.

A total of 67 student-athletes posted 4.0 GPAs during the 2009 academic year, and 428 earned scholastic all-America honors for posting GPAs of 3.5 or higher.
