Time to change the foul shot substitution rule
The NCAA Basketball Rules Committee may want to reconsider a little-known substitution rule that allows a teammate to substitute an injured player on a foul shot.

Academic and athletics success possible
The Division I Leadership Council met this week to discuss, among other items, revising current membership requirements. When the topic was broached at the group's meeting in January, Chair Damon Evans, athletics director at Georgia, talked about balancing dominance in the classroom with dominance in competition.
"You can have success in both," Evans said. "We truly believe we can compete at the highest level and have academic success at the highest level as well."
That theory was proven, somewhat, when Inside Higher Ed produced its own completed bracket for the Division I Men's Basketball Championship - with a twist. Instead of choosing who they think will win each game based on performance on the court, the writers advance teams with higher Academic Progress Rates (APR).
The Kenyon men's team won its 30th consecutive swimming and diving National Championship over the weekend. Kenyon's streak, the longest in any NCAA sport, began in 1980. Can you think of a more impressive streak?
