The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the College Sports Information Directors of America have announced a seven-year partnership that runs through 2015.

The two associations will convene their conventions jointly at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort in 2013, 2014 and 2015 (previous hotel commitments preclude an earlier joint convention). CoSIDA leaders, however, will meet with NACDA representatives at the latter group’s annual mid-winter meetings beginning this year. Over the next few years, CoSIDA officers will meet with the NACDA leadership to discuss industry trends, which is similar to what the 11 other associations managed under the NACDA umbrella do.

The partnership includes CoSIDA exposure in Athletics Administration, NACDA’s magazine that is published eight times a year, on the NACDA Web site and in the NACDA daily e-mail news summary.

“We are excited that the two associations have joined together for the common good of their members,” said NACDA President Joan Cronan, women’s athletics director at Tennessee. “NACDA serves as the professional association for those in the field of intercollegiate athletics administration, and this hybrid partnership with CoSIDA was a natural fit in the Association’s continued mission of providing educational opportunities and serving as a vehicle for networking, exchanging information and advocating on behalf of the profession.”

CoSIDA President Nick Joos, the senior associate athletics director for external affairs at Baylor, said the partnership opens the lines of communication and allows the associations to compose joint task forces; cross-over panelists, topics and sessions; and unparalleled networking opportunities for both sides.

“CoSIDA looks forward to partnering with NACDA in a unique hybrid relationship that will benefit both associations,” he said. “This partnership will afford all CoSIDA members tremendous professional-development opportunities while at the same time enhancing CoSIDA’s visibility and brand within the intercollegiate athletics community.”
