CoSIDA plans outreach at conventionThe College Sports Information Directors of America is conducting a three-hour service project June 22 at the San Antonio Food Bank.
The project, held in conjunction with the CoSIDA annual convention in San Antonio this year, supports the organization’s new outreach mission statement/slogan “CoSIDA Cares.”
“We are excited about this opportunity to volunteer at the site of our annual convention and to promote CoSIDA in the communities we visit each year,” said CoSIDA Goodwill Committee Chair Sam Atkinson, the director of sports information at Salisbury.
Registered members of the CoSIDA convention are eligible to volunteer by contacting Atkinson at jsatkinson@salisbury.edu or at 410/543-6016.
“Part of our focus is to involve our colleagues in the importance of giving back and how they can help their own communities year round,” said CoSIDA Goodwill Committee Vice Chair Ryan Klinkner, the athletics media relations director at Saint John’s (Minnesota). “The response from our current committee members has been very positive about our new direction. We want to continue to build this committee and welcome anyone who wants to serve to join us.”
The San Antonio Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that serves as a clearinghouse by receiving and storing truckloads of donated food, produce and other grocery products. The SAFB distributes these items in manageable quantities to about 400 service agencies that help people in need.
