Stanford’s men’s gymnastics squad became the first team to claim the NCAA national championship and earn the College Gymnastics Association’s national academic team title in the same year.

The Cardinal, who won their fourth NCAA team title in program history in April, posted a team grade-point average of 3.394 to edge defending academic champion William and Mary, which placed second with a 3.335 cumulative GPA. MIT (3.275), Temple (3.271) and Springfield (3.261) rounded out the top five in the team rankings.

In addition, the CGA named 75 first-team all-American scholar-athletes with at least a 3.50 GPA, including four-time honorees Jacob Bateman of Ohio State, William Russ Czeschin of Oklahoma, and Jason Russo and John Vogtman of Temple. The group also recognized 55 second-team all-American scholar-athletes with GPAs between 3.2 and 3.499.
