Arthur, Silver selected for new office rolesTroy Arthur and Geoff Silver have been appointed to director-level positions at the NCAA national office and the NCAA Eligibility Center, respectively.
Arthur, formerly a director in the office of diversity and inclusion, is moving to a director position in the academic and membership affairs group. He replaces Amy Huchthausen, who became the Division III governance liaison at the national office earlier this fall.
Arthur rejoined the national office last December from Learfield Sports, where since September 2006 he had been general manager for BCA Properties, a partnership between the sports marketing firm and the Black Coaches and Administrators.
Arthur previously had been with the national office staff for 10 years – four in membership services and six with the championships group.
A former four-year starter and captain for the Central Connecticut State football squad, Arthur taught physical education and coached football and track and field while earning a master’s degree in public policy at Trinity (Connecticut).
Silver will be the new director of amateurism certification at the Eligibility Center, where he will oversee a 12-member staff responsible for certifying Division I and II prospective student-athletes’ amateur credentials. He replaces Bill Saum, who left the staff earlier this fall.
Silver joined the NCAA in January 2005 and has been the associate director of membership services since February 2007, working primarily in the area of interpretations.
Before joining the NCAA staff, Silver worked as a compliance assistant at Michigan and as assistant AD for compliance and student affairs at Bucknell.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from North Carolina, his juris doctorate from Indiana and a master’s in sport administration from Michigan.
Both Arthur and Silver start their new roles January 4.
