Boston College men’s ice hockey coach Jerry York earned his 800th career victory with a 5-2 win over Minnesota last Saturday. The game earned the Eagles a spot in the second round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship.
The Eagles later advanced past Miami (Ohio) in York’s 801st win to advance to the Frozen Four beginning April 10 in Denver. Boston College will face third-seeded North Dakota.
York now ranks second in career men’s ice hockey victories, behind former Michigan State coach Ron Mason, who has 924.
Of the 801 victories, York earned 125 wins at Clarkson, 342 at Bowling Green and the remainder with the Eagles. He graduated from Boston College in 1967, where he was captain of the ice hockey team and named most valuable player as a senior.
