Stanford women's basketball coach Tara VanDerveer posted her 700th career victory December 28 when the Cardinal beat Washington State, 105-47.
It was VanDerveer's 548th victory at Stanford. She coached at Idaho and Ohio State before coming to Stanford 22 seasons ago. She also took the 1995-96 season off to coach the U.S. Olympic team.
After the victory, VanDerveer's players each congratulated her, and she accepted a bouquet of roses from Athletics Director Bob Bowlsby.
The Cardinal are 12-1 overall, 2-0 in conference play after beating Washington on December 30, 77-42.
