The Southland Conference Television Network will debut on local network affiliates with nine football game broadcasts beginning in September. More than 35 events will be broadcast in the league’s three-state geographic region over the next academic year, and Jeff Watts Productions will serve as the lead production company.

The network will broadcast football and basketball games, as well as the championship games of the conference’s volleyball and baseball tournaments. Officials expect to simulcast all live game broadcasts via video streaming at www.southland.org.

The network will also feature a new, 30-minute magazine show called “Inside the Southland Conference” featuring interviews with coaches, administrators and student-athletes. The show will debut in September with new episodes through May 2009.

“Our campus administrators have discussed enhancements in our television options in recent years, and the league’s television committee developed a great plan in the last year to promote the Southland and its successful athletics programs,” Commissioner Tom Burnett said.

The eight football broadcasts begin with Grambling State at Northwestern State on September 13 and will include a wildcard game on the last regular-season weekend, to be determined as the season develops.
