The NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee has announced the 2010 and 2011 Midwest and West regional sites.
In 2010, Notre Dame will host the Midwest regional March 27-28 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Minnesota will host the West regional at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul March 26-27.
In 2011, Michigan Tech hosts the Midwest regional at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, March 26-27, while the Central Collegiate Hockey Association hosts the West regional at Scottrade Center in St. Louis March 25-26.
“The ice hockey committee is excited to announce these sites as we had a tremendous amount of interest shown by cities across the Midwest,” said Joel Maturi, chair of the Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee and athletics director at Minnesota. “We focused on selecting sites that have NHL-size ice sheets and are in neutral buildings. We feel that each of these buildings will showcase college hockey, give our student-athletes a tremendous experience and help take our championship to another level.”
Sites for the 2010 and 2011 East and Northeast regionals were announced previously. The 2010 East regional is at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, hosted by ECAC Hockey and Rensselaer March 26-27. The 2010 Northeast regional is at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, hosted by Holy Cross March 27-28.
Yale and Fairfield host the 2011 East regional March 25-26 at the Bridgeport Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut, while New Hampshire hosts the Northeast regional March 26-27 at the Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.
