The average number of runs scored in Division I women’s softball games at the mid-point of the season is right on pace with the 2007 season-ending 4.08 runs per game.
The 4.08 runs per game at the end of last season represented an all-time high in Division I softball. Runs scored have steadily climbed every year since 2004.
The Pacific-10 Conference leads the nation in runs scored per game with an average of 5.33.
In baseball, Division I pitchers' earned run averages showed an increase compared to the last four seasons. Pitcher’s ERAs are 5.43 at the mid-point of this season.
Since 2005, ERAs remained between 5.12 and 5.14.
