A new video available for online viewing explains the current rules regarding Division I computer-based recruiting presentations. The video is available here.
In the presentation, membership services intern Jean Orr explains what is permissible – and not permissible – when using PowerPoint slides and other computer-assisted recruiting presentations to help recruit a prospective student-athlete.
The video answers several common questions about using technology in recruiting, including who may produce the presentations, how the material can be delivered to prospects, what can be included in the presentation and how the video can be viewed.
There are no proposals governing computer-recruiting presentations in the 2008-09 cycle. In 2007, the division adopted a proposal allowing institutions to show such a presentation to prospects during permissible contacts and to post them on the institution’s Web site. In 2006, the division adopted a proposal allowing institutions to show a computer-recruiting presentation to a prospect during in-home, official and unofficial visits.
