Murray State’s volleyball team raised more than $2,500 recently for the National Brain Tumor Society. The team chose the cause as a tribute to head coach David Schwepker’s wife Kendra, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2004.
“I am thrilled that we were able to raise so much money for a worthy cause,” David Schwepker said. “Once again, the community has stepped up and helped out, this time to help the National Brain Tumor Society find a cure.”
The team raised the money throughout November via donations and a per-attack pledge system. Several local businesses also contributed to the effort. The Racers will support the cause again next year.
