A new video available for online viewing explains the current rules regarding financial aid for Division I student-athletes who enroll midyear. The video is available here.
In the presentation, Assistant Director of Membership Services Alex Smith explains that prospective student-athletes who sign a National Letter of Intent or other binding written financial aid agreement for the 2009-10 academic year cannot receive athletics aid for the 2009 spring term, even if the prospect graduates from high school at midyear and enrolls in an NCAA institution.
The video outlines various scenarios and answers questions about each one to help member institutions identify possible options for providing midyear aid, including for those who have signed NLIs or other financial commitments and those who have not.
