Florida State beat Georgia Tech on Sunday, 17-8, as the Seminoles’ head baseball coach Mike Martin became one of three men in Division I history to win 1,500 games. Martin joins Texas’ Augie Garrido and Wichita State’s Gene Stephenson in the elite club.

"The memories have been wonderful," Martin said. "I am a blessed individual to have worked here at this great university. I am so proud to be a part of it and yeah, it does mean something to me, but it is also a thank you to every individual that has put on a Seminole uniform. "

Martin became head coach in 1980 after serving as a player and assistant with the program. Of the 3,288 games played in school history, Martin has been involved in 2,395. He has led the Seminoles to the College World Series 12 times and 28 straight NCAA regional appearances. Martin was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007.

The Seminoles improved to 16-1 with the victory over Georgia Tech, knocking out a season-high 19 hits and 17 runs.
