The Division I Management Council will discuss transitional issues and possible topics to be considered by the restructured governance structure at its meeting April 14-15 in Indianapolis. This is the last meeting of the group as it is currently configured.

The group will also hear a presentation on the new dashboard indicators system that is scheduled to launch next month. The system is the result of recommendations from the Presidential Task Force on the Future of Division I Intercollegiate Athletics and is expected to influence the way financial decisions are made.

The project, done in collaboration with the National Association of College and University Business Officers, will provide a consistent, uniform approach to analyzing data from institutions within Division I and will offer the ability to compare data from like institutions. The Division I Board of Directors heard a presentation on the system at its January meeting, and the presidents were enthused by the possibilities offered by the new system.

The governance subcommittee is expected to meet on April 13 to finalize transitional issues and tie up loose ends related to the move from a single Management Council to a Leadership Council and Legislative Council, set for late this summer. The Management Council members will also discuss ideas and issues to carry forward into the reorganized groups.

Management Council members will also discuss and vote on all pending legislation from the 2007 cycle, including a proposal that would allow walk-on baseball student-athletes to use the one-time transfer exception, several adjusting two-year college transfer rules and two altering regulations regarding meal provisions for student-athletes.
