Georgia’s Athletic Association recently purchased a horse farm near Athens that will become a permanent home for the Bulldogs equestrian team. High Point Farm in Bishop, Georgia, will be the new facility for the team as early as February.
Georgia has sponsored equestrian since 2001, and the team has trained and competed at the Animal Science Arena, operated by Georgia’s Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Animal and Dairy Science programs.
High Point Farm will undergo a few renovations by the Georgia Athletic Association, including construction of an outdoor arena and locker room facilities. The Bulldogs have won three equestrian championships.
“Coach (Meghan) Boenig, her staff, and team have established an equestrian program at Georgia that deserves the very best facility in the country,” Athletics Director Damon Evans said. “This property at High Point Farm gives us that opportunity. The stable, paddocks, and fields are essentially ready for our team and horses now, but our long-range plan for enhancements will ensure a first-class home for our national championship team and at the same time, it will solidify our position at the forefront of varsity equestrian programs.”
