Former UCLA softball coach Sue Enquist will be inducted in the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame next month, alongside Olympic track star Hassiba Boulmerka, golf champion Hisako Higuchi and Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller.
Enquist, who retired from UCLA in 2006 after 30 years with the program as a coach and player, won 11 NCAA titles and is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Hall of Fame. On the field, Enquist earned a career batting average of .401 and was the first UCLA softball player to be named an all-American.
The induction ceremony will be June 9 at the newly opened Sports Museum of America in New York City. For tickets to the event or more information, visit www.womenssportsfoundation.org. Proceeds from the event will benefit underserved girls in the New York City area.
