The following is a summary of Division I News from the week of April 14-18.

• The Division I Management Council held its final meeting in Indianapolis, forwarding several pieces of legislation to the Board of Directors for consideration. Among the proposals approved by the Council are one allowing walk-on baseball student-athletes to use the one-time transfer exception and another measure setting standards for some two-year college transfer student-athletes.

• The ratings for the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship were down slightly, though the championship game rating was virtually identical to the Florida-Ohio State matchup in 2007.

• Jackie Campbell presided over her final Management Council meeting. The Council chair talks about how she came to work in athletics and what she sees in the future for Division I.

• Paige Esford, a women’s golf student-athlete at Ball State, tallied her first career hole-in-one at the Cardinal Classic tournament on Sunday, then followed up the feat with a second hole-in-one in the tournament on Monday.
