Conferences: Southern Illinois Edwardsville announced it will become the 11^th member of the Ohio Valley Conference on July 1. All Southern Illinois Edwardsville sports will begin regular-season competition in the conference in 2011-12 and be eligible for postseason competition in 2012-13. The softball program will be ready for both regular-season and championship competition in 2010-11.

Facilities: Illinois, in the process of renovating Memorial Stadium, announced it will install FieldTurf surface for the 2008 football season. The surface is already used at four other Big Ten football stadiums and the Illinois baseball stadium … Indiana’s football field was destroyed by flood waters that are believed to have drained under the school’s AstroPlay turf and washed away the stone and sand that make up the base surface. A two-foot deep sinkhole formed in the south end zone. Damage estimate are between $750,000 and $1 million.

Miscellaneous: Former Delaware State football student-athlete Darnerien McCants established a $10,000 endowed scholarship fund for Delaware State students. The scholarships will go to full-time students in any course of study. Recipients must meet minimum grade point average requirements. This is not McCants first donation to the school. In 2006, McCants designed and delivered new football jerseys to the Hornets.
