Williams is in his 30th season coaching and his 19th at Maryland.

Sport sponsorship: Western Kentucky will discontinue its men's soccer program effective with the 2008-09 academic year. Officials blamed state budget shortfalls and a reduced amount of money in the athletics budget for the decision to end the sport. The school will honor the current scholarship levels of each player in the program through their senior year if they maintain good academic standing. The school is in the transition process to the Football Bowl Subdivision and will be a member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2009. Men's soccer is the only Western Kentucky sport not sponsored by the league.

Conferences: The Western Athletic Conference will live stream the finals of all four days of its 2008 swimming and diving championships February 20-23. The video streaming, done in conjunction with JumpTV Sports, will be available at www.WAC.tv. The entire package will cost $9.95, with each night priced individually at $5.95. For more information, visit www.wacsports.com.

Miscellaneous: Buffalo's recreation and intramural program collected more than 130 food items for a nonprofit organization serving meals and providing support services to the homeless, destitute and working poor in the area. The can drive was part of a group fitness program during winter break - everyone who brought a food item was able to participate in one aerobic class during winter break without paying the usual fee …Wagner honored former SID and Northeast Conference Associate Commissioner Bob Balut at a game against St. Francis (New York). Balut died last spring. His wife, Erica and their two-year-old son Aidan attended the game. The school established a scholarship fund for Aidan and all television and conference personnel who worked the event that day donated their day's pay to the fund.
