The Division I Board of Directors approved the appointment of three new presidents: F. Ann Millner, president of Weber State; David Schmidly, president of New Mexico; and the Rev. E. William Beauchamp, president of Portland.
Millner became president at Weber State in 2002 and has served the institution in several different capacities, including vice president of university relations, for more than 20 years. She holds degrees from Brigham Young, Southwest Texas State and Tennessee.
Schmidly ascended to the presidency at New Mexico October 7, 2007, coming from the presidency at Oklahoma State, where he served for nearly five years. He also held the presidency and several other offices at Texas Tech. He spent 25 years at Texas A&M as well. His background is in zoology, and he holds degrees from Illinois and Texas Tech.
Beauchamp was named president of Portland in 2003 and served as the school's senior vice president before that. He also spent time at Notre Dame. He holds degrees from Detroit and Notre Dame, He was ordained a Holy Cross priest in 1982.
All three presidents will begin their tenure with the Board in April 2008.
