Four of the six teams that won NCAA cross country championships last fall and two runner-up finishers have been named all-academic teams of the year in the sport by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Division I women’s champion Stanford, Division II men’s champion Abilene Christian, Division II women’s champion Adams State and Division III women’s champion Amherst were honored as the coaches released their annual lists of teams that compiled a minimum team GPA established for each division and posted a score at an NCAA regional cross country meet.

Division I men’s runner-up Iona and Division III men’s runner-up Haverford also were honored.

Divisions I and III coaches also reported schools that earned the highest team GPAs in those divisions. The South Florida women (3.78) and Belmont men (3.57) led Division I, and the Hamline women (3.74) and MIT men (3.68) topped Division III.

Division I listed 98 men’s teams and 158 women’s teams as 2007 all-academic teams. Division II named 67 men’s teams and 99 women’s teams, and Division III listed 98 men’s teams and 141 women’s teams.
