College of Saint Rose Senior Associate Athletics Director Brian Gordon has been named the NCAA’s next secretary-rules editor for men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Gordon will succeed long-time rules editor Sue Petersen Lubow when her term expires in September 2009.

“I am pleased to be passing the baton to Brian,” said Lubow, the director of athletics at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  “His passion, superb organizational skills, media background, and competitive swimming and coaching experiences provide him with all the tools necessary to do a fabulous job as secretary-rules editor.”

Petersen Lubow has been the sport’s secretary-rules editor for more than 20 years.

Lubow will work with Gordon during a transition year before Gordon assumes the role full time.

Gordon graduated from Rider with a degree in journalism in 1979 and has been involved in the sport as a student-athlete, coach, official and administrator for more than 30 years. He is a former meet announcer and has served as a member of the NCAA Division I championship meet staff.

“As someone who has spent the last 30 years being involved with NCAA swimming and diving, I’m honored to be asked to serve in this role,” said Gordon.  “I look forward to working with the various constituencies of collegiate swimming and diving to continue advancing our sport.”
