The NCAA is partnering with the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators to host a women’s leadership symposium designed as an educational experience for professional women new to working in intercollegiate athletics administration and coaching, as well as for students aspiring to a career in college athletics.
Registration for the event is available online. The event will be in Boston, March 20-21, and will be held in conjunction with the Women’s Frozen Four.
The two-day program will ask participants to take an active role in exploring:
• Leadership skills (communication, values clarification, philosophy development and conflict resolution).
• Management strategies (finance, organization, personnel and legal issues).
• Career advancement skills (interviewing, resume and cover letter critiquing and networking skills).
Registration is limited and will close no later than February 6. Participant fees are $75 ($25 for students). The hotel group rate is $135.
Additionally, the Horizon League, the Big Ten Conference and Mid-American Conference are continuing their tradition of hosting a women’s leadership symposium in Chicago May 11-12. Registration for that event opens January 1, 2009 and can be accessed at www.wlsathletics.com.
