Two of the NCAA’s longest-running championship events top the Association’s calendar of events this week.
The oldest NCAA championship, the Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, observes its 87th year in one of the nation’s most historic venues for the sport. Drake Stadium, home of the annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, is the site of this year’s competition.
Then, it’s time for the first pitch of the 62nd annual Men’s College World Series, which begins Saturday at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
There also are numerous committee meetings scheduled this week, led by a meeting of the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet beginning today. The Division II Academic Requirements Committee also gathers, as do committees overseeing the men’s and women’s gymnastics and Division I women’s golf championships and women’s lacrosse rules.
