The spring cycle of divisional governance meetings brings the Divisions I, II and III Management Councils to Indianapolis beginning today.
It will be the final meeting of the Division I Council. The division is changing its governance structure, which will result in the creation of a Leadership Council and Legislative Council to replace the Management Council late this summer. Also of interest in the division is a meeting of its Committee on Athletics Certification.
Thursday brings the first of three days of competition at the National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships. Team and all-around individual champions will be crowned Friday night and individual-event champions will emerge Saturday.
Committees overseeing other championships also will meet this week. All three divisions’ wrestling committees convene today, while the Men’s and Women’s Fencing Committee meets beginning Wednesday.
Also, the last in a series of regional seminar to present information about the NCAA Group Basic Accident Medical Program is scheduled Wednesday in Atlanta. The program is for institutions seeking insurance for student-athlete medical expenses up to the $75,000 deductible of the Association’s catastrophic-injury insurance program.
