USA Basketball, the national governing body for men’s and women’s basketball in the United States, announced that Indianapolis is one of four finalists for the location of its headquarters and national training facilities after the end of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The other cities are Colorado Springs, Colorado (USA Basketball's present location); Glendale, Arizona; and Louisville, Kentucky.
USA Basketball issued a request for proposal in September 2007. Currently, USA Basketball trains its teams at the United States Olympic Committee’s training center (also in Colorado Springs) and various other venues around the United States.
USA Basketball will make site visits to the finalist cities over the next two months, and will make a public announcement regarding its future location plans during the summer of 2008.
