A new addition to the NCAA's extensive array of gender equity and Title IX resources recently debuted in English and Spanish.

Designed as an introduction to gender equity and Title IX, the NCAA Gender Equity and Title IX brochure is now available online in both languages. It is the first time the NCAA has printed the brochure, which is aimed at student-athletes, fans and families of pre-collegiate students to help explain the civil rights law and what the NCAA expects with regard to gender equity.

"It’s more of an introductory FAQ," said Karen Morrison, NCAA director of gender initiatives and student-athlete well-being.

Morrison said she got the idea from a panelist at the Symposium on Women of Color in Intercollegiate Athletics who talked about the need for Spanish-language resources to help Hispanic families understand available opportunities. "I thought that was a terrific recommendation and wanted to get our general Title IX/NCAA Gender Equity resource in Spanish in hopes that it would be easier for ESL and Spanish-speaking families to understand the concepts."

The NCAA Guide to the College Bound Student-Athlete also is available in Spanish.
