The NCAA News

Re-re-re-rewind!  Miss some action on the Double-A Zone this week?  No worries.  We’re looking back at the hot topics that drove discussion during the last five days on the NCAA’s official blog.

Was Adrian snubbed by the Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Committee?  Despite a 26-3 record, the Bulldogs didn’t make it into the 10-team field, despite being a first-year varsity team. Six conferences received automatic bids to the field and Adrian’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association wasn’t one of them. A 20-game win streak to finish the season didn’t get the Bulldogs one of the four at-large berths and some Double-A Zone readers aren’t thrilled about the outcome.

At the SEC Women’s Basketball tournament last weekend, an autograph-seeking fan said that “the players are there for our entertainment.”  Is that what people really think?  Are student-athletes there for the fans?

Clemson has decided not to renew the scholarship of Ray Ray McElrathbey, who gained national attention a couple of years ago for raising his younger brother, playing football and going to school all at the same time. McElrathbey will graduate in just three years but does have two years of football eligibility remaining. Double-A Zone debate is raging about whether or not Clemson has a responsibility to keep McElrathbey on the team.

Wheaton (Massachusetts) soccer player Jenna Stiegler is blogging during the team's spring break trip to Portugal. Jenna recently made a post about her winter break experiences in Argentina, where she represented the United States in 11th Pan American Maccabi Games.
