CoSIDA to induct Hall of Fame class

The College Sports Information Directors of America will induct the five members of its 2008 class into the Academic All-America Hall of Fame later this month.

The class of 2008 includes a decorated military veteran, a well-known athletics administrator, two former national women’s basketball players of the year and a four-time Olympic swimming medalist. The induction ceremony will be June 30 in Tampa, Florida.

To be inducted are: Kenneth Caldwell, a Desert Storm veteran, team physician at the Citadel and a former Army football student-athlete; Nancy Hogshead-Makar, former Duke swimming student-athlete and Olympic gold medalist; Karen Jennings, Wade Trophy recipient from Nebraska; Rebecca Lobo, former player of the year from Connecticut and WNBA star; and Amy Privette Perko, Wake Forest’s first Academic All-American and current executive director of the Knight Foundation Commission.

This is the 21st induction class. To be eligible, a candidate must be a former Academic All-America Team member and have graduated at least 10 years ago or have competed before the establishment of the Academic All-America program.
