The College Sports Information Directors of America announced the Academic All-America Women’s Volleyball Teams and Academic All-Americans of the Year Christa Harmotto of Penn State and Amber Thomas of Juniata.
Harmotto, a senior middle blocker, represents the university division. The Nittany Lions are ranked first in the country with a 28-0 record. Harmotto was the 2007 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year and leads the Nittany Lions this year with 1.46 blocks per set. She was a 2008 Honda Award finalist.
Thomas, a senior outside hitter, represents the college division. Thomas was the AVCA Division III Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, only the fourth player to earn the honor in back-to-back years. She led the Eagles to a national championship in 2006 and the semifinals in 2008.
