CoSIDA honors men’s track and field/cross country scholars

The College Sports Information Directors of America announced the members of it 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field teams, including Academic All-Americans of the Year Donovan Kilmartin of Texas and Fritz Nugent of Redlands.

Nugent is the first college division men’s track and field/cross country student-athlete to be named Academic All-American of the Year in two consecutive years. He was the 2007 Division III decathlon champion and won the long jump in 2008.

Kilmartin has three indoor heptathlon championships, the only man in NCAA history to accomplish that feat. He also holds two Big 12 championships in the decathlon and  three in the indoor heptathlon.
