The College Sports Information Directors of America named their 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Football teams Wednesday. Florida’s Tim Tebow and Mount Union’s Greg Micheli were recognized as Academic All-Americans of the Year.
Tebow, who represents the university division, is a three-year starting quarterback and winner of the 2007 Heisman Trophy, the Davey O’Brien Award and the Maxwell Award. A junior, Tebow has passed for 1,913 yards this year with 19 touchdowns. He has 56 touchdown passes in his career and has scored 42 rushing touchdowns.
Micheli, a senior, has started at quarterback for two years for the Raiders. This year, Micheli led Mount Union to an 11-0 record while throwing 29 touchdown passes and only two interceptions. His passing efficiency rating is 215.77. He was the Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Stagg Bowl when the Raiders won the Division III title.
