The College Sports Information Directors of America selected the members of its 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Teams, led by Georgia Tech tennis player Kristi Miller and Salisbury lacrosse player Sue Ackerman.
Miller, a senior and the university division Academic All-American of the Year, was the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2008 and finished her career with a 151-39 singles record. She was the winner of the 2008 National Intercollegiate Tennis Association/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.
Ackerman, the college division Academic All-American of the Year, was the leading scorer in Division III as a senior. She led Salisbury to a 22-1 record and the national semifinals. She was the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year and finished her career as the Sea Gulls’ all-time scoring leader with 321 points.
