Coaches invited to academy

The 2008 NCAA Expert Coaches Academy will provide programming and networking opportunities for 28 football coaches June 5-7 in Dallas.

The academy was created to address the critical shortage of ethnic minorities in head football coaching positions, primarily in Division I. While the national office cannot dictate hiring decisions to member institutions, the Association provides programming to better prepare coaches for issues they will experience in primary positions.

The programming includes communications, fiscal responsibilities, management, compliance and academics. Participants in this year’s Expert Coaches Academy represent all three NCAA divisions.

Attending the academy will be:

George Barlow, assistant head coach/defensive coordinator, James Madison

Steven Brown, defensive coordinator, Kentucky

Isaac Collins, defensive coordinator, The Citadel

Dino Dawson, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, Alcorn State

Andrew Faison, head coach, Virginia State

Mike Fanoga, associate head coach, New Mexico State

O’Neill Gilbert Jr., defensive coordinator, Tulane

Keith Henry, assistant football coach, Wake Forest

Jaime Hill, defensive coordinator, BYU

Marion Hobby, defensive coordinator, Duke

James Jones III, defensive coordinator, Kentucky State

Ronnie Lee, defensive backs coach, Minnesota

Curtis Luper, assistant head coach, Oklahoma State

Lamonte Massie, head coach/athletics director, Livingstone

Paul Randolph, associate head coach, co-defensive coordinator, Tulsa
