Campbell joins NCAA staff

Jacqueline Campbell, most recently associate commissioner for compliance of the Atlantic-10 Conference, will join the NCAA staff as a director of women’s basketball beginning September 19.

Campbell, a two-sport athlete at Virginia, holds degrees from Virginia and Massachusetts. She was a recipient of an NCAA postgraduate scholarship for ethnic minorities and women. Her first job in intercollegiate athletics was in the legislative services department at the national office. She was named assistant chief of staff for Division I before accepting the job of assistant commissioner for compliance at the Atlantic-10. From there, she worked in student services and compliance at Connecticut and Maryland before returning to the Atlantic-10 in 2004. In 2005, she was promoted to her current position.

Campbell has held a variety of positions on different committees within the Division I governance structure. Most recently she was chair of the newly formed Legislative Council. She also chaired the Division I Management Council (2007-08, member 2004-2008) and was a member of the Division I Women’s Basketball Committee (2001-02); Division I Women’s Soccer Committee (1998-2001); Division I Satisfactory-Progress Waivers Committee (1998-2002; chair 2000-02); and the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet (1998-99).
