Former Stanford Athletics Director Ted Leland was named the recipient of the 27th NACDA/NIT Athletics Directors Award.
Leland, who also served as athletics director at Pacific and Dartmouth, is vice president for university advancement at Pacific.
Created in 1981-82, the NACDA/NIT Award is presented annually to an individual who contributed to the sport of basketball and the National Invitation Tournament.
Leland became involved in intercollegiate athletics as a football coach at his alma mater and later coached at East Tennessee State and Stanford. In 1979 he became an administrator at Houston, later moving to Northwestern. He became AD at Dartmouth in 1983 and Pacific in 1989.
He arrived at Stanford in 1991, leading the Cardinal to 50 team championships and 173 conference championships as well as major increases in fund raising. In 2005 he returned to Pacific to his current position.
