The American Football Coaches Association selected the members of its 2008 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing 22 student-athletes who served their communities by performing acts such as rescuing children from an overturned bus and donating bone marrow.
“These 22 student-athletes represent thousands of college football players who make a difference in their communities through volunteer service on campus and in their hometowns,” said AFCA Executive Director Grant Teaff.
The team members are chosen by a voting panel that includes former Good Works Team members and AFCA members. Honorees must be actively involved with a charitable organization, service group or community service and be academically successful. Neither athletics ability nor achievements are factors in the decision.
