Registration for the 2008 Women Coaches Academy will begin online at noon March 6.

Open to any coach from any sport and any division, the objectives of the WCA include skill development, retention and mentoring. Through a core curriculum that covers four main areas -- philosophy and fundamentals, management skills, communication strategies and career development -- participants learn techniques and strategies designed to increase and enhance their efficiency, productivity, resourcefulness and success.

Two five-day sessions have been scheduled – May 28-June 1 in Denver (Inverness Hotel and Conference Center) and June 7-11 in Atlanta (Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center).

Tuition and room and board are provided for coaches at NCAA member institutions; however, participants are responsible for travel to and from the site. Space is limited to 25 participants per session and consideration is given to balancing each session for division, sport, head and assistant coaches, ethnic minority involvement and repeat applicants.

Since 2002, when the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics supported an initiative to train, support and retain women coaches, there have been 11 sessions of the WCA.
