Stan Wagnon picked at Lone Star Conference
The NCAA News
Stan Wagnon has been chosen as the new commissioner of the Lone Star Conference.
Wagnon took on the role of conference acting commissioner in January 2006 and became interim commissioner in June. He joined the Lone Star in 2003 as director of media relations and was subsequently promoted to assistant commissioner.
Before arriving at the conference office, Wagnon made stops at three Lone Star schools. He served as sports information director at Tarleton State University for nearly three years after spending four in a similar role at Midwestern State University. Before that, Wagnon worked as a student assistant in the sports information office at the University of Central Oklahoma.
At 33, Wagnon becomes the youngest commissioner at the Division I or II level. He succeeds Fred Jacoby.
