Morehouse named Robert Franklin Jr. president, effective July 2. Franklin previously served as a presidential distinguished professor of social ethics at Emory … Marvin Krislov was chosen as president of Oberlin … Purdue selected France Córdova as president. Córdova had been chancellor at UC Riverside … Mark Huddleston will become president of New Hampshire. He had been president at Ohio Wesleyan … Charles Dunn announced his retirement as president of Henderson State, effective June 30, 2008. After a six-month sabbatical, he intends to return to the university as a professor of political science.
Directors of athletics
Emory and Henry selected Bob Johnson as its new director of athletics … Miami (Florida) Director of Athletics Paul Dee announced his resignation, effective June 2008. He plans to join the school’s faculty … West Florida named Todd Davis athletics director. He succeeds Richard Berg, who will retire after 19 years at the helm of the program … Arkansas-Little Rock extended Chris Peterson’s contract.
Associate director of athletics
Penn State selected Mark Bodenschatz as associate athletics director of facilities and operations. He replaces Herb Schmidt, who retired December 31.

Baseball — Bill Miller retired from Texas Lutheran. Former Liberty Chancellor Rev. Jerry Falwell died May 15 at the age of 73. Falwell founded the university in 1971 … Winthrop basketball player DeAndre Adams died May 16 from injuries he suffered in a car accident. The 20-year-old sophomore played in all 35 of the team’s games last season … Former Southern California football standout Charley Ane died May 9 from pneumonia. He was 76 … Stanley Duncan Jr., a psychology professor and faculty athletics representative at Chicago, died May 15. He was 71. Duncan served as FAR at Chicago for more than 25 years. He was a pioneer in the study of face-to-face interaction.
