Cynthia Gabel, assistant athletics director at Missouri-Kansas City, died August 20 after a battle with cancer at the age of 52.
During her eight years at UMKC, Gabel handled compliance and eligibility issues for the school’s varsity programs. Additionally, she served as sport supervisor for a number of teams and as the athletics department’s senior woman administrator.
