Supporting the troops - Washington and Lee University
The NCAA News
Supporting the troops — Teams at Washington and Lee University recently took time to send care packages and letters to military units serving overseas through the Adopt-a-Unit Program sponsored by America Supporting Americans. The program pairs up organizations and cities with military units serving in Iraq and elsewhere. Athletics department staff members joined the student-athletes in the effort, which was suggested by men’s soccer coach Rolf Piranian, who read an article about lacrosse teams’ sponsorship of troops through America Supporting Americans. Piranian believed that Washington and Lee’s student-athletes would feel a camaraderie with college-aged soldiers.
