Aurora tax preparers — Three student-athletes were among 50 Aurora University students who recently prepared and electronically filed income tax forms free for 380 Chicago-area taxpayers. Basketball student-athlete Jeremy Cartwright (left), tennis student-athlete Cole Guetschow and basketball student-athlete Adam Berlin assisted with the fourth annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, a partnership with the Internal Revenue Service. Students in a Federal Taxation of Individuals course at Aurora spent six Saturday mornings preparing and filing state and federal returns. Class members helped taxpayers claim $313,097 in refunds, including an $8,000 refund for one taxpayer.
