Division II announces 20-game broadband slate for September

The NCAA News
Division II and CSTV have announced 20 regular-season football games to be shown via broadband in September. The slate kicks off with four games September 1: Shippensburg at Shepherd, Catawba at Elizabeth City, Albany State (Georgia) at Valdosta State and Northern Michigan at Indianapolis.
The schedule includes four games on each Saturday in September, with the exception of September 15, on which three games will be shown (the fourth that week is Friday the 14th when Bryant visits Merrimack).
Sixteen more games are in the works for October, but not all of those agreements have been finalized. Among games scheduled are the Pittsburg State-Northwest Missouri State clash at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri (October 6); the Western State-Adams State game at Pueblo’s Dutch Clark Stadium (October 27); and the Valdosta State-North Alabama game at Valdosta State’s Bazemore-Hyder Stadium (October 27).
This is the second year in which Division II has partnered with CSTV to make available a number of football games over the Internet to a national audience.
“The broadband platform proved wildly popular last year and should be even more so this year,” said Division II Vice President Mike Racy. “We’ve been able to work out some of the technological first-year growing pains, and viewers should realize a higher-quality production of the games this year.”
Once the fall schedule is completed, a total of 44 games representing every Division II conference will be shown via broadband. That is in addition to the four games announced recently to be telecast live on CSTV (Texas A&M-Commerce at Pittsburg State August 25, Mars Hill at Catawba September 27, Chadron State at Nebraska-Kearney October 18 and South Dakota at Nebraska-Omaha November 1). Those games also can be viewed via broadband through the CSTV Web site at http://www.cstv.com/ncaa/divii/.
The broadband schedule is evenly distributed among Division II conferences, with each league being represented in at least three games.
“The broadband option has allowed Division II schools to connect with their fan bases — both regional and national — through the CSTV package,” Racy said. “It also provides another platform from which institutions can tell their story and promote the unique characteristics of their Division II affiliation. In that respect, the broadband package is one of the many ways in which Division II is connecting with its community.”
Division II and CSTV will announce a regular-season broadband package for basketball this fall.
